On August 11, 2025, in Seoul, as part of the state visit to South Korea by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Tô Lâm, the Vietnam-Korea Dialogue on cultural industry cooperation took place. The event opened up many new opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to reach the global creative market.

The event was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn and attended by the Ministers of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of both countries, along with many leaders, experts, and especially representatives of leading businesses from both nations. In his keynote address, Deputy Prime Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn emphasized that the Vietnamese government strongly supports and has high hopes for the cooperation between cultural industry businesses of the two countries, aiming to bring high-quality products to each other and to the world.

Deputy Prime Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn gave the keynote speech at the dialogue.

The dialogue was held in the context of the increasingly strong comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea. Vietnam possesses rich cultural resources and a young creative workforce, while South Korea has advanced experience, technology, and global promotion capabilities. This combination of strengths is expected to form groundbreaking cooperation projects, contributing to making Vietnam's cultural industry a key economic sector, contributing 7% of the GDP by 2030.

Speaking at the event, Vietnam's Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyễn Văn Hùng highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences, policy guidance, and collaborating on the production of high-quality cultural products. On the Korean side, Minister Chae Hwi-Young affirmed his commitment to promoting sustainable cooperation aimed at shared prosperity for both countries.

Representing leading Korean businesses at the dialogue were delegates from the HYBE group in music (the management company of the group BTS), Krafton in gaming and software, and Carriesoft in entertainment content for children and families.

On the Vietnamese side, YeaH1 Group, one of the first and most prominent listed companies in Vietnam's cultural industry, shared its achievements and current cooperation models with Korean partners. These efforts are aimed at training and launching a generation of multi-talented artists, helping to bring the Vietnamese cultural wave closer to an international audience. At the event, beautiful and vibrant images from the Anh Trai Vượt Ngàn Chông Gai concert, along with new efforts to honor culture like "Gia đình Haha" and the training journey of "Tân Binh Toàn Năng", were screened and presented to senior leaders of the two governments.

Chairwoman of YeaH1 introduces the cultural industry achievements from the corporate side.

"Right now, in Vietnam, YeaH1 is producing a music program where Korean and Vietnamese bands will interact and perform together, with the cooperation of many reputable Korean producers. We believe that this investment and professional way of working will lead to success for YeaH1 and our collaborating Korean businesses," said Ms. Lê Phương Thảo, Chairman of YeaH1 Group, at the dialogue.

Vietnam's cultural industry is approaching global standards.

On the sidelines of the event, representatives of leading businesses from both countries exchanged information, sought investment opportunities, shared experiences in copyright management, product promotion, and market expansion.

Participating in such a high-level forum, witnessed by the leaders of both countries, opened up many opportunities for businesses to connect with strategic partners and investors from South Korea, one of Asia's leading creative hubs. The event demonstrates the increasingly clear role of the private sector in realizing Vietnam's cultural industry development strategy, while also showing practical interest and support from management agencies.

From cultural exchange to cultural export.

From cultural products to business opportunities.

With leaders of both countries as witnesses, the exchange of important cooperation documents took place right at the dialogue, marking a new step forward in bilateral Vietnam-Korea cultural cooperation.

South Korea is a country that has achieved outstanding success in the cultural industry, making the "Hallyu Wave" a global phenomenon. The success of K-pop music, cinema, fashion, and cuisine has proven that culture has immense economic and diplomatic power. With the foundation of a comprehensive strategic partnership, Vietnam and South Korea have many complementary strengths.

The Korean government also aims to achieve a K-culture market size of 300 trillion won and cultural exports of 50 trillion won by 2030, by increasing support for businesses, promoting R&D in cultural technology, and applying AI to the entire content production, creation, and distribution process. Meanwhile, Vietnam also aims to develop its cultural industry with five strategic cooperation directions with South Korea: (1) sharing experiences in building policies and laws on the cultural industry, especially in copyright and related rights; (2) promoting the joint promotion of Vietnamese-Korean creative products and brands; (3) cooperating to develop markets and products, especially in cinema, music, cultural tourism, design, and gaming; (4) strengthening business connections, investment, and joint production ventures; and (5) promoting in-depth training, personnel exchange, and scholarships in key areas."
