Performances inspired by Vietnam's traditional culture have become one of the signature hallmarks most beloved by audiences of the reality show Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai, produced by YeaH1.

This year, that celebration of cultural heritage returned with Ly Ngua O Hue, a standout performance by three Anh Tai include Jun Pham, Thanh Duy, and Mew Amazing.

Expanding on the original folk song, Ly Ngua O Hue incorporates original X-parts and rap verses, while its stage design, creative concept, costumes, choreography, and musical arrangement come together to deliver a visually and sonically captivating experience for audiences both in the studio and across television and digital platforms.

The stage was crafted with rich visual layers and symbolic imagery. Flowing sheets of blue silk evoked the rolling silhouette of Ngu Binh Mountain beneath a brilliant red sun overlooking the Perfume River, creating a scene as picturesque as a traditional painting

Anyone familiar with the original Ly Ngua O Hue knows that the folk song is brief, highly repetitive, and filled with traditional vocal embellishments. That became the central challenge for Jun Pham, Thanh Duy, and Mew Amazing: to transform it into a performance suited for a grand stage—one that feels contemporary, engaging, and appealing to younger audiences while preserving the essence of its folk heritage.

Together, the three artists breathed new life into Ly Ngua O Hue, infusing it with vibrant energy and youthful spirit. The performance became the first major cultural highlight of this season. Built around a striking palette of blue, red, black, and gold, it left audiences in awe during performance round 1 of Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai 2026.

Drawing on the landscapes and defining cultural symbols of Hue, as well as Vietnam's traditional heritage, the artists wove these elements into a performance that unfolded like a timeless folktale. It tells the story of a young man who leaves home to build his future, returns in triumph to honor his ancestors, and celebrates his wedding with the woman he loves.

The performance's blue and red tones symbolized the landscapes of Hue, while flowing red silks evoked the vibrant festivities celebrating the young man's return. The black costumes, embroidered with shimmering gold patterns, represented both the hardships of his journey and the honor he brought home. They also subtly showcased the beauty of van kien, a traditional Vietnamese decorative motif.

More than just another stage performance in an entertainment program, Ly Ngua O Hue became a catalyst for spreading knowledge and appreciation of Vietnam's traditional culture, led by young artists themselves. It demonstrated that folk heritage is not something confined to museums or academic research. Instead, it continues to live and evolve, flowing naturally into the contemporary cultural consciousness of a new generation that embraces and celebrates its traditions.
