The U.S. magazine *Fortune* has recently published a special feature highlighting Vietnam’s cultural industry, praising its strong growth potential. The report notes that "Vietnam has hopes to become Asi...
In its June–July 2026 Asia edition titled “Vietnam’s pop culture takes the stage”, Fortune highlights the growing momentum of Vietnam’s cultural economy, noting that its development is being driven by supportive government policies alongside increasingly active participation from the private sector.
“The Vietnamese government aims for the cultural economy to grow by 10% annually and contribute 7% of GDP by 2030. Over the past 12 months, it has introduced a series of notable initiatives: a new national holiday celebrating culture; Vietnam’s first national pavilion at the Venice Biennale; and the launch of Vietnam Today, a state-run English-language television channel. The government has also broken ground on several landmark architectural projects, including a grand opera house in Hanoi and a 135,000-seat stadium—set to become the largest in the world upon completion in 2028,” the article states.
Through an analysis of these policy shifts and Vietnam’s emerging achievements, the author observes that Vietnamese pop culture is undergoing significant growth, as more domestic companies and creators seek opportunities to develop cultural products and entertainment content for international audiences. Among them, YeaH1 Group is highlighted for its notable contributions in content production and entertainment. Fortune reports that the company achieved 60% revenue growth in 2025, driven in part by the success of Anh Trai Vượt Ngàn Chông Gai, which attracted large live audiences and generated strong engagement across digital platforms. YeaH1’s network of 200 channels also recorded 82 billion views over the past year.
Beyond domestic productions, Fortune also points to YeaH1’s international expansion strategy through the boy group UPRIZE, a product of SYE Holdings - a joint venture between YeaH1 and Sony Music - aimed at reaching global audiences.
Vietnam’s cultural industry is still in its formative stage. Compared to more established cultural markets in Asia such as South Korea and Japan, Vietnam still has considerable room to improve production quality, industry standards, and global competitiveness, supported by a rapidly advancing digital infrastructure and a young generation increasingly confident in its cultural identity.
The attention from international media represents a positive recognition of the evolving landscape of Vietnamese pop culture, while also serving as motivation for businesses and creators to continue learning, innovating, and refining their efforts in developing and elevating Vietnamese cultural values.
