"Gia Dinh Haha" - Simple Experiences, Warmth of Family Bonds

The members of "Gia Dinh Haha", joined by guest artists Toc Tien and (S)TRONG Trong Hieu, shared unforgettable memories as they participated in the harvest ceremony of the M’nong people. Dressed in traditional attire, the artists joined the village elder in preparing offerings: carving the cay neu ceremonial pole with a special knife, cooking rice to honor the gods, and raising cups of ruou can as part of the ritual.

Every activity carried deep cultural meaning, reflecting appreciation for labor and its rewards. The harvest ceremony is a way of giving thanks to the deities for granting seeds and praying for abundant crops. Presided over by the village elder or shaman, the ceremony takes place right on the fields. More than just belief, it is a sacred symbol of the bond between humans and the heavens and earth.

Bui Cong Nam shared that although he is from Dak Lak and had met the E De people many times, only through this journey did he realize how much cultural value from his homeland he had overlooked. Despite language barriers, the warmth and affection of the villagers made the connection deeply felt. Nam also enjoyed a unique and memorable birthday celebration.

If in Ban Lien planting trees symbolized rebirth and greening the land, in the Central Highlands the gift of a tree from "Gia Dinh Haha" symbolized connection so that each time the tree bears fruit, Xim will remember the bonds he built with the artists.

The Central Highlands chapter of "Gia Dinh Haha" gave audiences unforgettable moments. One highlight of Episode 14 was guest (S)TRONG Trong Hieu’s efforts to brew authentic coffee, alongside Toc Tien’s lively humor.

Amid the vast highlands, the artists even staged a spontaneous “mini-concert” on the grass, performing new compositions and familiar songs that evoked the festive atmosphere of Mid-Autumn night moonlight, the banyan tree, and Uncle Cuoi.

At the dinner table, Toc Tien shared that what impressed her most was the unscripted nature of the program: everyone was cheerful, relaxed, and able to try new things. She recalled memories with the members, like working with Bui Cong Nam on music but not meeting in person for three years, or knowing Jun Pham for over a decade but rarely having the chance to collaborate.

Joining "Gia Dinh Haha" gave her the chance to connect more deeply with her fellow stage colleagues, now like family members.
